Prescription guide

How to get a PT-141 prescription.

PT-141 is the research name for bremelanotide, FDA-approved as Vyleesi for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder. Other uses, including in men, are off-label, and some clinics prescribe compounded bremelanotide.

01 · Where to get it

Where to get a PT-141 prescription.

A consultation is an evaluation, not a purchase. The clinician decides whether PT-141 is appropriate for you, and may suggest something else.

  1. 01

    Gynecologist or women's health clinician

For the approved use, a gynecologist or primary care clinician can evaluate symptoms and prescribe Vyleesi.

  2. 02

    Telehealth clinic

A clinician licensed in your state reviews your history by video or questionnaire and, if bremelanotide is appropriate, sends the prescription to a pharmacy that ships to you.

  3. 03

    In-person clinic

A local peptide, hormone, or wellness clinic can examine you, draw labs on site, and handle follow-up in person.

02 · Before you book

What to ask a clinic first.

  1. 01Are you prescribing brand Vyleesi or a compounded preparation, and which pharmacy fills it?
  2. 02If this would be off-label for me, how do you weigh the evidence and monitor side effects?
  3. 03What does the visit, medication, and follow-up each cost?

Our peptide therapy guide covers cost, insurance, and how to check a clinic's credentials.

Questions

PT-141 (bremelanotide) prescription FAQ.

Do you need a prescription for PT-141?

Yes. Bremelanotide is a prescription drug in the US, both as brand Vyleesi and as a compounded preparation.

Can men get a PT-141 prescription?

Vyleesi is not approved for men. A clinician may consider off-label use of compounded bremelanotide after an evaluation, but that decision belongs to them.

Is PT-141 the same as Vyleesi?

Same molecule, different products. PT-141 is the research name for bremelanotide; Vyleesi is the FDA-approved brand, with its own labeled use and dosing.
